These past two months have really taken an emotional toll on
me. I’ve been dealing with
personal family issues, work has been ramping up and I’ve just been trying to
keep my head above water. This is
a large part of the reason why I haven’t written a new post, well that and my
general laziness. While dealing
with my family situation, and as the title implies, I’ve found yet another
reason why being single is inconvenient at this very moment in my life.
Just what the world needs, another egomaniac who thinks other people are hanging on their every word (or in layman's terms, another blogger). To my two readers: I hope you're strapped in and ready to go!

The Dream’s Used to Be…AKA How Women Kill Good Relationships Every Day Through Sheer Laziness
As I was trolling through Necole
Bitchie’s site, I came across The Dream’s new track “Used to Be”, where he
reflects on his failed marriage with Christian Milian—BBM sad face. Prior to hearing this song, I had my
mind made up about The Dream and the kind of spouse I thought he would be. I thought he was arrogant, selfish and
unsupportive (granted, I don’t know him, but I can definitely run with a
tabloid story and make it his entire life story). I was Team Christina all day.

My stay at The National Hotel—huge womps
I recently went to Miami with a few girlfriends. It was a TIME to say the least. We partied, we ate, we were accosted
and made lifelong memories. This
was my second foray into South Beach madness and I loved almost every bit of
it! The only thing I could have
done without, was the blatant racism and discrimination we experienced at our
hotel.
This extended weekend getaway was the result of months of
painstaking planning, disagreements and sideeyes. The hardest part of the planning was picking the hotel. We diligently did our research; read
reviews and scoured discount sites.
In the end, we decided on The
National. It was a four star
hotel and thanks to a glitch on their web site, we got a pretty good deal, or
so we thought.
When we checked in to our non-renovated room (these are all
the rage in Miami, many of the hotels are going through extensive renovations
and sometimes to save more, you get less…room amenities that is). We knew that our room was essentially
the stepchild of the fabulous four-star hotel, but we were also assured that it
was still in pretty good shape. That
was a lie. The room smelled
like…MOLD. I actually can’t get
down with a moldy room, especially not one I’m shelling out $250 for. I don’t know many people that would.

Musing...not to be confused with whining
Watch me stomp my feet and pout about how it’s NOT FAIR that I’m still single…no? Ok, just kidding I guess.
Sometimes this is what I feel like shouting to the whole world and all
the worlds beyond. I’m at the ripe
old age of 24 and for some reason I have this incessant nagging that I need to
be “settled down”. Being that I
work in media, I am well aware of how the media influences society and
ultimately shapes our perceptions about social norms. I also know that I literally have at least a decade before I
can legitimately start worrying about the future of my eggs, or lack
thereof. I know that my 20s are
the years that I should revel in; I should be making bad decisions almost every
day so I can look back fondly and suffer no regrets. How is it that I know all of these things, yet sometimes I
want nothing more than to have a boyfriend to come home to? Am I lonely? Sometimes, sure.
But definitely not in the sense that I’m not comfortable with myself and
am co-dependent on others to fill a “void” that only I can really fill.
*Sigh*

Love Letters...how they should look
For the (few) men that read my blog, in case you ever wanted to know what a love letter is supposed to look like, refer to the below. This is just a little something I whipped up. In today's world of Skype, text messaging and Facebook posts, nothing says "I care" like a good old-fashioned love letter. Fellas, you'd be surprised at how something like this can make a woman weak in the knees. Women are as complex as the day is long, but ultimately we all want attention and devotion from our spouse, especially the kind immortalized in a letter we can re-read over and over again when we're down and out and you're not around to whisper sweet nothings.
Should I have any secret admirers out there in cyber space, please feel free to send a letter similar to this with your actual sentiments in lieu of my made up ones. If you're decent and have a good heart, this could get you some play—possibly.
